So grateful I don't read Notes.

Anyway, I suppose the Substack Nazis(R) are forcing people to read their articles at gunpoint? If they aren't, what is Katz mewling about? Nobody is forcing him to publish a Substack or read Substacks, are they?

And I find it rich that Ukraine is chockablock with open and confessed Nazis, armed, funded, trained and supported by the United States and its vassals, but apparently that's okay.

The "funny" part is that Zelensky and his closest associates are of an ethno-religious background which once was the primary target of those self-same fascistic Banderites. Strange bedfellows, I would aver. Appears to be that behind the scenes, certain powerful interests were responsible for their "forced marriage".

That last part is well-documented.

Zelenskii was elected in a landslide, over vociferous American objections, on a platform of peace and reconciliation with Russia. The Americans and their Nazi friends did not allow this to happen.

Let's not forget that bastion of democracy to the North, whose Parliament rose in unison to cheer on an aging Ukro-Nazi for fighting against the Soviet Union in WWII. The actual Nazi problem is not with Substack--it's with the U.S. Empire. And while we're at it, let's not forget Operation Paperclip, which brought hundreds of Nazis to America to serve the Empire.

Investigative historian Eric Zuesse’s book, AMERICA’S EMPIRE OF EVIL: Hitler’s Posthumous Victory argues that the Nazi project was relocated to America.

The main point is not that people should be censored or kicked off the platform. In fact, his article in the Atlantic unequivocally states--and interviews several communication experts to back this point up--that censorship is a bad idea and doesn't solve any problems. (This is a point I also agree with.)

He is posing the question of why Richard Hanania (a noted racist who has written for white supremacist blogs) was featured on the official Substack podcast, allowed to make comments like "we should roll back Civil Rights" with no pushback, allowed to encourage listeners to check out and follow other white supremacist newsletters, and was promoted through the official corporate newsletter for weeks after the fact.

So, no, I wasn't "forced to read him at gunpoint," but I would've never had heard of this guy if it weren't for Substack. There is a difference between hands-off content moderation and active promotion, which is a point that a lot of people seem to be missing for whatever reason.

Youtube promotes channels that denigrate China, in hopes of preparing their audience for war with China. If YT is allowed to do it, why not Substack?

Expand full comment

Is this via algorithm or a conscious decision by YouTube leadership to host these people on the official YouTube account where they are allowed to make denigrate China with no pushback? If it's an algorithmic product, then trying to regulate everything that's said on there would be a ridiculous and futile effort.

If Substack hosted Hanania but had a counterpoint to his arguments in an actual engaging debate, that would be one thing. But he was allowed to go off without any pushback. The point of a political interview should be to push subjects to defend their beliefs, and I would want the same done to left-of-center subjects too as it forces them to defend their arguments and refine their points, while offering the audience an actual exchange of ideas.

Expand full comment

The Youtube algorithm seeks to put as many eyeballs on as many videos from different creators/propagandists as possible. That has a greater effect than limiting propaganda to an official channel, that would attract a fraction of the audience, and isn't focused on a single issue. And indeed, algorithms are also a conscious decision by YT leadership. They know what works.

Expand full comment

Of course, but to a degree. YouTube can't be expected to micromanage everything that's broadcasted on their platform, nor should they be. That's not the same as the YouTube CEO bringing on a guest to be interviewed at their official channel and asking them to spout off their political beliefs unchecked.

Expand full comment

It's more effective for YT to push propaganda onto the recommended videos list. If something is 'recommended', then it is in some way being curated. In my case, I turned off my viewing history. I should be seeing videos related to the one I'm watching, or trending videos, or random videos. That has not turned out to be the case.

And YT can use your argument to deny they are doing anything untoward. My experience demonstrates their algorithms are working as designed.

Wow! That was a trip down memory lane! That piece was published in CounterPunch BEFORE they banned C.J., Diana Johnstone, Ed Curtain, John Steppling, Andre Vltchek and anyone else that was actually worth reading there. I haven't been back to CounterPuke since, but I have fond memories of some rather unpleasant email responses from that time - after I had dared inquire of the editors as to "why" all the principled and sane anti-war voices were being purged from CounterPunch?? If my memory serves me correctly I was informed by said editors that my favorite writers weren't in fact being cancelled, or censored, or purged, or anything like that - but simply that they weren't being published at CountPuff anymore. Go figure. Looks like the CounterPuff boys were way ahead of the curve in shamelessly embracing the whole deep state censorship regime kinda stuff - way before it really became the "new normal."

Old adage of when the going gets tough, the tough get going. C.J. looks to currently be on a roll with his situation now having become somewhat of a stimulant for some essential reminders for the reading public. Good on him.

Question which many posters could likely resolve, dissolve perhaps, is who or which agency is responsible for funding and directing the Antifa shtick. During the George Floyd "martyrdom" riots and outrages, aided and abetted, perhaps simply by their relative lack of action, both the Democrat Former Labor Party stalwarts, Minnesota's Goobernator Walz and the Minneapolis mayor, a late 20 something type with a photogenic face and apparently little more happening atop his neck. An immediate call-out of the National Guard would have placed an instant damper on the fun 'n games by a highly motivated Antifa and the George $oro$ funded and founded Black Lives Matter.

C.J. seems to have nailed it with the 2018 re-posting essay. Yeah, Globo-Cap needs to be able to posit an enemy, a threat, in order to denigrate populist opposition and the deterioration economically of not only the classical working class, but also previously economically independent professionals such as doctors, lawyers and CPA's, to barely mention college and university profs hoping to achieve tenure and retain that status.

Once upon a not too distant time, those professionals could feel free to call their own shots. Not happening any more as HMO's, huge legal firms and CPA conglomerations have succeeded in essentially DESTROYING the crest of the upper middle class. Marx had it right when he noted that serfs do not enjoy ownership of their own means of production. Currently, those onetime bulwarks of independent thinking and sometimes action, are currently economically and professionally compromised by the hidden hand's forced march into total centralization of both power and mind-control.

So these days, with the exception of the 1% and various economic hangers-on; the huge bulk of the American public has, presto-chango, once again been transformed into the status of serfs, wage-slaves and "useless eaters".

It's a war, folks...and the media-mesmerized masses, particularly in the older two or three generations...are currently throttled into an anesthetized state of "blissful ignorance", in fair part self-induced as a defense mechanism...therefore rendered hapless and not too seldom hopeless in the face of an all-out assault by the minions of highest finance capital, centered in City of London, Wall $treet and closely kept banking institutions and money-laundering centers in Switzerland.

As for Antifa and Black Lives Matter, the former org is highly reminiscent of both Hitler's Brownshirts and their Communist street-brawling activists. Different, even polarized opposites politically, but with nearly identical violence-employing mindsets. BLM has proved out to be run by a claque of grifters who are there for all that easily swept-up into private hands corporate funding on the part of institutions which are "contributing to the cause" in order to protect their politically acceptable branding.

Controlled opposition in order to dampen growing populist disgust at the blended fascisms of a metastasizingly centralized and heavily armed state, comfortably in bed with those financiers and their minions who are currently calling the shots in the "land of the free and home of the brave".

Quite the circus, I would say. Meanwhile, all the best to C.J. as he has appeared to have achieved a second wind before needing to further deal with a massively corrupted German court system...Hey! that one kinda reminds me of the law n' order racket here in the states with the U$$A having a mere 4% of the planetary population, while gorging economically on 25% of the world's victims of state incarceration. Goodness gracious, the U$$A locks up more people than India and China COMBINED...and their populations add to more than six times that of our ruptured republic!

Do the math, folks. It's simply one big racket, now sporting millions of victims amongst 99/% of the population.

It's almost like the moment that Nazis started to "disappear" in a certain former Soviet bloc Eastern European country that "we" have been supporting with weapons, sure-to-be-usurious loans, and propaganda for the past 2 years (really since 2008 or 2014), Nazis started appearing at Substack of all places. There must be a quasi-law of physics to describe this phenomenon. As the real-world Nazis of Ukraine are wiped from existence or exposed as "Putin propaganda", there's a quantum entanglement effect at work, and Substack Nazis arise to fill the void, keeping all things balanced in the universe.
