On April 1, 1933, shortly after Hitler was appointed chancellor, the Nazis staged a boycott of Jewish businesses in Germany. Members of the Storm Troopers (“die Sturmabteilung,” or the “Storm Department,” as I like to think of them) stood around outside of Jewish-owned stores with Gothic-lettered placards reading “Germans! Defend yourselves! Do not buy from Jews!” The boycott itself was a total disaster — most Germans ignored it and just went on with their lives — but it was the beginning of the official persecution of the Jews and totalitarianism in Nazi Germany.
Orchestrated here and there somewhat differently all those countries proclaiming the "new normal" play the same piece of music. Just wonder who the conductor is. Common sense, though, appears to have been among the first victims of this madness.

I could see this Covid blah blah coming down the pike Dec '19, so planned to be in India, which I assumed was a crazy enough place that they wouldn't join in the New Normal. But things have been just as insane there as anywhere, which is why I relocated to Tanzania, which is still living in 2019. I think everyone if/when we do ever get the chance to look back at this and laugh will remember this period as one of the impactful of changing their view of the world (I am talking about the sentient ones...)
OK, Germany. My wife and I brought our children and others over here from different places in the world to get out of their mess and into a real-world for about a month each at a time over the past year. We had a couple of young women from Germany, and I learned a lot about what is happening there from them. I think they are pretty representative of their age group, and from our talks, they know what is going on is wrong, but it's been terribly stigmatized to associate with anything that is against the government. 'It's like being pro-Nazi' one told me, which I thought was the most telling, as that reveals the spell that is going on there. If they are casting you as the Nazi, then that takes every card on the table away. I still haven't a clue as to how it could turn around there. The best hope seems to be an Israel-like maneuver, a phase II of sorts, which pulls back for now, holding the hammer at rest. I'd gtfo out if I was there. GL.
If you can convince the population at large that a *slightly* more deadly variant of the common cold is a public safety threat on par with the Black Death, then you truly can assert control over every aspect of people’s lives in the name of safety. Not sure how we’ll dig out of this hole.
